2010-2011 Season

Auditions will be held for the Amarillo Boy Preparatory Choir* and the Amarillo Girl Preparatory Choir**

When & Where:

August 26-27, 2010                        4:30 - 6:30 P.M

St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 4600 S. Western

How to Audition:

No special preparation is necessary.  Each child will be asked to
·        Sing the 1st verse of a familiar tune such as “Silent Night” or "Happy Birthday"
·        Demonstrate his or her vocal range
·        Repeat several sung and played melodic patterns
·        Repeat rhythmic patterns as directed
·        Each child will be auditioned individually

A $5.00 non-refundable application fee is required of all applicants.


*The Amarillo Boy Preparatory Choir is for boys with unchanged voices who will have completed the 2nd grade and up prior to the Fall of 2010.
**The Amarillo Girl Preparatory Choir is for girls who will have completed the 2nd grade and up prior to the Fall of 2010.

The mission of the Amarillo Youth Choirs is to provide boys and girls in the Amarillo and Panhandle area who have special musical abilities with an opportunity to study and perform challenging choral literature; to bring talented boys and girls from all ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds together to work and sing in harmony; and to build self-esteem, create musical awareness, instill self-discipline, promote responsibility, and develop musicianship.  It is AYC’s policy not to turn away any child due to financial reasons.

Rehearsals

Regular rehearsals for the Amarillo Girl Preparatory Choir are held from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
On Monday at St. Stephen United Methodist Church Chapel located at 4600 South Western Street.

Regular rehearsals for the Amarillo Girl Concert Choir are held from 5:15 - 6:45 p.m.
On Monday at St. Stephen United Methodist Church choir room located at 4600 South Western Street.

Regular rehearsals for the Amarillo Boy Preparatory Choir are held from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
On Tuesday at St. Stephen United Methodist Church Chapel located at 4600 South Western Street.

Regular rehearsals for the Amarillo Boy Concert Choir are held from 5:15 - 6:45 p.m.

Tuition / Uniform fees:

Tuition for the Preparatory Choirs is $150.00 plus a uniform fee of $20, of which $10 is refundable upon the return of the uniform in good condition, bringing the total due to $170.00.  Payments may be made in three monthly installments as follows.

July 1st - $60

August 1st - $60

September 1st - $50

Tuition for the Concert Choirs is $200.00 plus a uniform fee is $50, of which $25 is refundable upon the return of the uniform in good condition, bringing the total due of $250.00.  Payments may be made in three monthly installments as follows.

July 1st - $100

August 1st - $75

September 1st - $75

If you have more than one child in any of the choirs, your tuition cost (not including the uniform fee) will be cut in half for the other children, after full payment is made on the oldest child.  The uniform fee will be paid in full for every child.

Tuition covers all expenses incurred by the organization including but not limited to salaries of our artistic directors, accompanist, and administrative staff, dry-cleaning, music, festival fees, office equipment and supplies, and all other operating and program expenses.  The uniform fee is designated to help defray the cost of replacing uniforms.  Upon completion of the season if the uniform is returned to Amarillo Youth Choirs in usable condition (all buttons in place, no rips, tears, etc.), a refund will be given to the AYC member.
